Or the spoon. Or the bowl. Or the mixer. Or the floor.
This is a major accomplishment. I wanted to convey to my family - who do not have weight issues - that they do not need to suffer because I am exerting some self control for the first time in 6 years. I am so thrilled that I could do it. Thank you Extra sugarfree gum!!
Yay for me!
Congrats!!!
Chocolate Chip cookies are my biggest weakness so I completely get your accomplishment! Do they make Chocolate Chip flavored Extra gum? ha ha... not sure if that would taste good or not! Keep up the great work!
At my last dentist appointment I had the dentist use cookie dough flavored tooth paste and can honestly say it wasn't bad. Often the too strong to tolerate mint gets to me!
great job Rachelreck!
I read the title of this thread and I had to comment. Great job on the self-control of not even licking the bowl!!! I wish my self-control was as good (chocolate and all things with even just the smallest amount in it) is my weakness. I just have to keep it all out of the house, and I can confidently say if I made choc chip cookies, I would eat them all before they cooled down.
Again, GREAT JOB!!! I take my hat off to you.

rachelreck- way to go! I have a problem with that too and brownie batter as well. I think I like the batter better than the cooked version even though I get scared with the raw eggs inside...
Juluspahl- thanks for the idea about cookie dough flavored toothpaste at the dentist! I actually have a dental cleaning scheduled for tomorrow morning so I am going to ask for that flavor if they have it!
I think you are the first person in the history of the universe to avoid fresh cookie dough! Thats impressive!
WOW _ I am impressed!!!!
I know I couldn't have done it!
Major props to you as I have NEVER once been able to accomplish the same feat.
I only bake once a year during the Christmas season and it's ALWAYS gotten the best of me. I've tried chewing gum, eating a meal before baking so I wasn't hungry, and even thought about duct taping my mouth shut while I mixed the dough (I never went as far as doing that), but nothing worked. I've come to realize that nothing probably will, as I obviously lack the willpower to say no to those small morsels of goodness. Oh well, at least it's only a once-a-year problem.
never tried raw cookie dough.never has the thought of eating it appealed to me.However i just love chocolate chip cookies.cant have them around though they wont make it through the day.good job.
rachelreck-
I thought of you and this post yesterday because my kids were in a photo shoot yesterday for a kids cooking feature in our local newspaper. They were cooking a kids chocolate dessert recipe and it looked so good to the kids to lick the bowl, but the chef didn't let any of the kids lick the bowl or spoons, etc. You should of seen the kids wanting to, but the chef was quick to not allow them and make a big mess. I don't blame the chef on that one! I'm glad I didn't have to make that call because it would of been hard for me!
Awesome job! I know how hard it is! I'm a pastry chef. I had to stare down 10lbs of cookie dough the other day. With gum and celery at my side I ate non of the dough! Go us! Stay strong!
I have a crazy sweet tooth - I try to only bake for special occasions - but when I do I get out the pickle jar - I know this sounds too weird or too easy - but start eating pickles and it takes away the temptation to sample as you bake - it really works - but only if you like pickles i would suppose
Nicki! That's an awesome idea! Pickles and cookie dough would taste terrible! I'm gunna buy some pickles to keep at work to keep me out of the dough! Thank you!
Great job. My problem would be eating the cookies right out of the oven!!
