27 pounds so far that is great.I know so well about those plateaus. That's what happened to me a few years back.I was told to change up the exercise routine. I wish I didn't get discouraged and comfortable for that matter and gave up. So my advise to you is change up the way you are exercising. Don't give up you are doing great. Keep cut up vegs in the fridge if you get up in the middle of the night, maybe that will help.

my trainer is really good at changing up my routine and keeping my muscles guessing - i guess we all want to see these amazing results cause it was so easy to put the weight on but so darn hard to loose it!

Hello everyone- My boyfriend and I just joined AF yesterday. I want to lose 60lbs. Keep up the great work! I would love a support group also! I just turned 42. I am recently divorced with two kids and I haven't really done anything for myself. It is time to turn it around and finally do something for myself this summer! Virginia

Welcome Virginia...I know that feeling quite well! I have been divorced for 7 yrs now and it was not until then that I started doing things for ME! and I am down 100lbs.
My kids are grown, but they still have a hard time with me not being the "traditional mom/grandma". I dont babysit...or wait for them to do things with me, they are always asking..."when are you going to be around?" I also have a boyfriend, and he is so supportive of me in my workouts. He is always making me little "rewards" when I meet one of my goals. I love him.

Diet (eat right)1200 calories per day & exersize....thats it! Lots of family support. I weight and measure all my food, it only takes a few extra minutes...but well worth it and log EVERYTHING i put in my mouth. Even if it is one M&M! And a divorce after 27 yrs of marriage was a good motivater also... but I dont always recomend that part.

Thanks for the info. I was eating 1500 calories, Maybe I should do 1200 instead. I have been married for 31 years. 2 years ago I left my husband and was going to file for a divorce. We were separated for 6 months when he come back into my life, which I let him of course. We are still seeing each other but living apart. Kinda strange though at that time I left I was focusing on losing weight, continued after I left and had lost 45 pounds. Since then I have gained it all back. Focusing on him again I guess. Oh what a struggle sometimes, but I need to take the focus off him once again and think of myself. Got to comfortable, and we ate out a lot.

I just quite smoking 12 days ago so now im working on losing the weight and just getting over all fit and healthy I am 48 and its time to start taking care of myself. I would love to help keep any of you going. This is great to be able to have support like this. Tomorrow I am going to do the Hi Lo Step and I think the On The Ball class.

I need to chime in and add that I could use some motivation as well. I've been doing fine while at the gym, but it's the eating and emotional eating that keeps getting in my way. Please friend me as well if you would like to chat anytime. < I've been told I'm good for talking and listening! Happy

I'm having a problem with the eating thing as well. I was doing so good for awhile there, now I'm catching myself emotional eating as well at times. Time to dig deep and figure it out again. We can do this, with support which always helps.

Welcome to everyone that has joined us!!! Emotional eating can be hard to break. Begin small & replace the cookies with veggies & fruit. Also when you think you are only "hungry" for emotional eating tell yourself to wait an hour. If you still want it in an hour indulge in a small amount of something healthier.
Just something to try - it might help

That is were the protien drinks come in handy...they give you a full feeling, different flavors help, and they are good for you. Yes in my marriage my ex didnt care what I looked like so I didnt care. But now my boyfriend is so behind me in my journey that it is wonderful. Yes I am 54 yrs old, but feeling sexy for the one you love is very encoraging...As I tell my kids just because Im a grandma (5 times) doesnt mean I have to look and dress like one! It is a slow prosses...as the old saying goes, you didnt put it on over night and its not going to come off over night, that is why its been 7 yrs so far in this journey of weight loss, but it is more apt to stay off when it comes off slow. I have had a few set backs, but I have not let that get in the way. My goal is to be down to 130...but I have not put any time line on it. I just set small goals for my self that I can reach.
Going to the gym will really help that emotional eating, once you are in a routine then then eating gets much easier. Summer is on its way...so when you want to eat...go for a nice long walk. At night when I get the munchies...I go to bed! And if you are in a very happy marriage/relationship...sex is very good exersize...hope that didn't bother anyone but it is true.

Hi all I just joined Anytime Fitness on Monday..6 years ago I lost 50lbs then my dad died and I stopped taking care of myself..I am 47 mother of 4, grandma of 4 wife for 28 years..I fell 4 years ago messed up my hip, knee, leg..I have put on 100lbs since I fell..The doctors keep telling me I need to lose weight but they keep putting me on meds. that make me gain weight..ughh..Something clicked the other day and I decided that it was time that I start doing something for myself..The only thing that I can control is what I eat and how much excersie I do or don't do..So it's time for me..I had decided before joining AF that I was going to do 2 protein shakes a day..I have one for breakfast and dinner..I have a good health lunch an apple for afternoon snack along with some sort of protein bar..I am looking forward to this adventure.. Happy

Hi my name is Kendra. I would love to join this forum. It sounds to me that everyone just motivates each other. I have a hard time with going to the gym. I feel like everyone is staring at me, but I know that they are there to just work out as well. I joined AF back in January and then in February I stopped going to the gym. I got sick with a cold then I got the flu. I tried to go back in March 2012 but only did it for about a week then I got sick with the flu/cold again. I am not sure if I am allergic to working out. lol. Just kidding. Once I get started again I should be fine, it is just the initial starting out part. What motivates everyone to workout? Also is it better to work out in the morning or at night? I would love it if anyone would want to be my online buddy.
To this day I have lost 7 lbs and kept it off so far. I need to lose 45 more pounds to reach my goal weight of 155 lbs.
