Well said Linda. Eat for nourishment and not for pleasure. Cutting back is the key. Great job!!

Thank you Donna! To Everyone: does anybody also have this bad habit of over eating or is it just me? And what are some ways or things you've tried that have helped you to overcome this bad habit. I want to change my habit permanantly!

once you start eating less, you actually won't be able to eat more. Drink a lot of water - when you feel hungry, try to drink water instead. Sometimes our body thinks we're hungry when in fact we're thirsty. By filling your stomach with water instead, you eat less, and feel full quicker.

I also found that when I started making better food choices two years ago, that "bad" food actually didn't sit well in my stomach. I went on a low carb (good carbs!) diet, and when I'd eat something starchy (like a rich dessert, corn or a potato), I'd get a terrible stomach ache. There's a deterrent right there to not eat that stuff!

My teenage daughter lost weight without even trying, simply because I was cooking differently. I started making myself a dinner, and making them what they liked - but eventually transitioned them into a healthy low carb diet as well.

My latest "craze" has been making my own almond milk, almond flour and almond butter.

If you feel you need to snack during the day, just make sure what you have handy for snacking is good for you - cut up veggies and fruit. I find I'll eat the veggies if I take time to cut them up. I take grapes off the stem and keep them in a bowl - open the fridge and grab a handful instead of grabbing chips. The big key is - if you don't want to eat it, don't have it in your house.

What I try to do when eating is eat slow. I notice when I do that I don't eat as much and I feel full.

Way to go Linda!!! Every little change you make will help you to get ready for even bigger changes. Now me - I had to go cold turkey on fast food (other than Subway & Jimmy John's). Once I walk into a McDonald's or Wendy's - I cannot ignore the fries!!

Better choices like you made by avoiding the fries - will lead to a better/healthier you. I remind myself every day that I should "eat to live - not live to eat" It is NOT always easy.

Psalm - how are you doing? Work outs going pretty well for you?

Donna - how is the leg? give it time to heal up - but keep yourself moving - work on upper body stuff a bit to keep you moving.

Juliana - again with the awesome work - keep it up for sure!!

Victoria & Georgia - how are you doing ladies?

I have an hour with my trainer tonight - so I am amped for that. Have a great day everyone!!

Hi Linda, well I wish I could say it's better but it's not. It's actually worse. Couldn't sleep last night finally at 2:30 was the last time I looked at the clock. Woke in severe pain at 5:45. Can't bend my leg so have to keep it straight. Don't remember the last time pain brought me to tears but it did today. Just will take time I guess. Gonna focus on my eating habits for sure and hopefully can drop a few pounds.
Good luck everyone, and hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

I think I fixed my settings so you can actually see my name... did it work?

I'm sorry to hear your leg is so bad, Donna. Maybe you should have it looked at.

Laura... thanks for asking about me. Work-outs are going well. I got to "freak-out" the peeps at the gym on Monday when my heartrate got too high and I had to lay down. I have some health issues I deal with, so for me it's not a big deal, it's just a part of life. I lost 5 pounds in my first two weeks, and now the last two I haven't lost any... but maybe I'm building muscle and it's trading off. Wink

Hope today is a good day for everyone!

Psalm - don't feel bad about freaking out the peeps at the gym! I have done it twice now. I have Menieres which makes me dizzy from time to time (worse when I exert myself) & twice now I have almost passed out when working with my trainer & had to lie down in the middle of the floor. Like you said though - to me it is just a part of life - so we move on & ignore it!! I have seen a couple of guys actually throw up in the gym - so I don't feel so bad!

Linda - if a single taco at breakfast works for you - then so be it. You certainly could have made much poorer choices - you should be proud of yourself!

Donna - I would suggest you see someone for the leg - it sounds pretty severe.

Georgia - awesome advice about eating slower. I find that trick really does help. They say that your body will get "full" in about 20 minutes of eating. So if you eat slower - theoretically - you will feel fuller on less food.

Hi Victoria, I know exactly how you feel! Try this: I have found that by eating cereal dry as a snack very high in fiber... not only will it expand in your stomach and give you a satisfied sensation & it will also keep you full longer. Protein & Fiber are my bestfriends that has been keeping me stable so that I can cut my portions.

Donna, I hope your leg gets better. How are you doing on the nourishment part?

Georgia, I used your advice today...I ate really slow and YES! it did work.

Lisa, I have to be honest the Gym is my weakness. I have a hard time exercising unless there is a good show on..lol! I love Zumba though!

I hope everyone did good today!

Gnite ladies! talk with yall tomorrow Happy

I find Greek yogurt to be very filling. I also like to eat vegetables with eggs... and I say it that way because there are more veggies than eggs. I stir fry veggies and then dump in two eggs and just scramble them in the pan with the veggies. Sometimes I add cheese. Fun spices make all the difference... basil, oregano, parsley! yummy!!

The kashi cereals with some fresh berries in it is also delicious. Topped off with homemade almond milk it might as well be dessert.

And there is no rule you have to eat breakfast food for breakfast. The other day I ate left over rice and beans and chicken with salsa.

Victoria, for breakfast make sure you get a good mix of carbs & protein. And not the Cap'n crunch with a side of bacon kind! Tongue Tongue

I try to have a serving of oatmeal with one scoop of vanilla protein powder in it for breakfast (or at least as a morning snack) everyday. The fiber in the oatmeal helps to keep me full & the protein works wonders. Sometimes I add 1/4 cup of raisins or a banana to the oatmeal or much them separately.
If I am going to regular cereal - Kashi with Almond milk works wonders
Scrambled eggs with tons of veggies works too - but for me I only have time for that on the weekends.
A smoothie made with frozen strawberries, frozen bananas, almond milk & low fat low sugar yogurt can fill the tummy too.

Experiment & you will find what works best for you.

Donna - leg update? How you doing?

Lisa - I can put salsa on just about anything!! If you make your own - you can control the sodium too!

Keep it up ladies!

Hi, everyone
Sounds like everyone is doing pretty good.
As for my leg I wish I could say it was better. Yesterday was the worse day though. Today a little better. I can bend it about 6 inches back now instead of 1 inch. Ha..
Not doing to bad with my eating.
Cait wait to be able to start up again with the exercising, will be taking it slow that is for sure.
Wouldn't wish this pain on anyone.
Thank you all for your concern.
Donna
