Today I joined my local AF and am very excited about working out and getting myself back into shape and so on. My doctors feel that it would be beneficial on many different levels. I however, want to do this solely for myself and my self esteem. I want to feel like I have control over the situation at hand, as dangerous as it is. They have cleared me for working out (nothing heavy of course) and I have never been to a gym before this. I was always a fit teen and a horse trainer throughout college up until I was diagnosed in February of last year. I want to loose the weight and maintain some sort of muscle tone throughout my treatment process. Does anyone have any tips for a first time gym goer? I would love to hear them! I plan on going tonight. (Night time insomnia from chemo) and starting out with some light cardio...
Hello, It all begins with a first step...making a decision for you and to improve your health. I don't have any knowledge about your medical condition and would suggest talking with a trainer about a good program for you since your Dr has already cleared you for exercise. Good luck with your treatment and your fitness goals.

Hi Abby! How has your exercising been going? I see its a month today since joining. Best of luck with everything girl. hugs
Hey Abby- Im Janet, I also have CML. I was diagnosed in 2007. Scared me to death. After being put on one of the oral chemo pills and gaining alot of weight and being depressed for several years, my doc changed my meds
THANK GOD I feel 100 percent better now and I am trying to get some of this extra off that I gained while on the other stuff. Just starting off slow but feeling great about it. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this fight, either one...
I know you don't know me but if you have any questions or just need to talk to someone whose been there, I will be glad to be here for you. I wish that I would have had someone to talk to in confusing and frustrating moments. May God Bless You.
