The loss shocked me as well, I'm looking to get to around 210 lbs have added yoga to my routine 2 times a week.
Laughingboy was a nickname given to me years ago I liked it so it stuck with me as a user name.
To all of you keep up the good work maybe do an extra set or another 10 minutes of cardio each time you workout for more gains or in our cases (losses).
I just signed up with AF, so I'm about two weeks behind this challenge. Still, I'm in!
Reason: I typically range around 140-145 lbs. Two years ago I reached my highest weight of 158 lbs. Well, I lost all of that last year and got down to 135 lbs. Then I got lazy, stopped keeping track of a fitness plan and gained 5 lbs. back. I am 5'2" and would really like to see a weight in the 120s. Most if it is probably for vanity, but I also want to prove that I can stick with this and not accept just being close to my goal.
Starting stats: 5'2" 140 lbs 25.6 BMI
Welcome Amelia and good luck!
I'll be so glad when I can get back in the gym! Missed 3 days now being sick and not any better....getting worse now!
So, I know I'm a bit late, but I'd like to join in as well. I started my weight loss journey last year, and by the holidays had lost around 50 pounds. However the food and stress preparing for my current journey (spending the semester in Italy studying abroad) led to a gain back of around 15 pounds. So far, I've managed to lose 10 of those pounds again, but I think the support and seeing others success would be helpful. I want to continue to lose while I am here in Italy to be able to surprise my friends and family when I arrive home, and to be able to wear a bikini this summer. So, my starting weight: 209.5 lbs (95 kgs) and BMI 32 at 5'7"
My scale died so I need to get a new one before I can report again.
I am not doing well. I have not been to workout all month I need motivation & support...
If you need motivation and encouragement you have come to the right place. I just got back from the club and a super strong effort on the treadmill and have lost another 1 1/2 lbs. I'm 65 retired and disabled.I also have 5 stints in my heart and have a very hard time walking.
I look forward to my workout every day. I don't care about the pain or stumbling just feel good about going to my workout.I would like to talk with you about your problems and see if I could help. Just send me a msg or friend request to let me know.
I too have been sick this past week so haven't been able to work out for the past week much. Aams00....hang in there! If you can manage to do a little it will help, and gradually work up to a full routine. Anything you can do is better than none....
You have plenty of support here, we're all here for pretty much the same reason, for help, support, motivation and to loose weight. We can do it!
Steve, I also have a stent but only 45. Have a recorder on my heart too and go in every 3 mos to the pacer clinic. I applaud you for your determination and strong willpower to get in shape! Life is too short to not be able to feel good and enjoy it, that alone is enough to motivate you!
When you see some taken too soon, for health reasons that some could have been prevented, it will wake you up. We all want to look good and feel good about ourselves, we just have to take that step in the right direction to make it happen! No one can do it for us, we have to!
Good luck to everyone!
I've been bad about tracking the past couple of days, I think mainly b/c if I make a recipe or have to add in new nutrition info I decide it's too time consuming. I still haven't been back to the gym since my tooth ordeal and hope to go for a bit tonight to see how I feel. I'm still not 100% yet and I'm afraid of overdoing it when I'm not feeling well.
Aams were here for you, just go back today and see how it feels. For me it usually feels so good it makes me want to go. I read something that said " You may regret not getting a workout in, but you'll never regret getting one." So true, you always feel better afterward. Don't get discouraged, you were given a new day to start again so take advantage of it.
Sounds like it's been a rough week sickwise and getting to the gym for several of us, lets make this a good one!
Steve you are an inspiration to us all!! You are doing a great job!! Keep it up!!
Thanks all for the support of this page. I really need it as I don't really get that support at home. My husband didn't want me to join a gym and is very negative about it. Now that I've had to take a week off due to my tooth pain and root canal and recovery he's all the more negative, basically insinuating I will be a failure at it b/c I've had to take time off. Things happen, that's when you pick yourself back up and get right back on track. I plan to be a success and prove to everyone I CAN do it. The pounds may not fall off all at once but I plan to make this a lifestyle change and be a healthier and happier person.
@40nthin....you go girl! Turn his negativity into more determination for you! I've been upset with myself the past few days since I couldn't go, but thankfully my husband keeps telling me it's ok, I can get back at it soon.
I know what your going through though....went through too much negative criticism for years but won't go into that. Just hang in there too...we CAN AND WILL do this....with or without support from home!
Thanks Sherrie! I hope you are feeling better now. I'm looking forward to getting back in the gym tonight. It won't be my typical two circuits, but maybe I can get a little cardio in here at home first and possibly get two circuits in. Prob is I don't have a sitter for my 9 year old and the gym doesn't allow kids so I have to try to fit it in when he's at swim practice. Usually my husband is here to help out, but I will just have to do the best with the time I've got. Prob best I don't jump in full force right now anyway.
Here's to a much better week workout wise!!! Lets go -15ers!!!!
40nthin, good good good for you. It doesn't matter a bit about the length or pace of your workout at all. The only thing that matters is that you planned it, you had the desire to do it, and then that you did it.
One small step has to be taken before your journey is moving. and that you are closer to your goal.Never let someone drag you down from your goals nor sway you in your journey. This can be your coach, your cheering section, and your friends.
WAY TO GO
Well said Steve!
I'm fixing to get on my treadmill at home and do all I can! Tomorrow I will be back at the gym daily....lots to catch up on!
Hope all of you are having a great day, now lets go work out!
I have read what each of you typed to me and I THANK EACH OF YOU. I did go to workout tonight & it felt good. I have no reason why I have not been there this month. By not going only made me depressed & I kept "beating" myself up. I knew ONLY MYSELF could get me there. I actually just read these posts tonight after I workout so I must of known people were cheering me on & supporting me but had not seen/realized it until now. I AM NOT GIVING UP ON MYSELF I am so grateful I have this site & yo people to vent to. Good luck my AF friends.
I finally made it to the gym last night. Since I didn't have as much time as I needed to do two circuits I did some cardio at home first then went and got my two in. It felt SO good to get back!! For me it's just taking that time to do something for me that makes it feel so awesome. I'm always proud of myself for making time for myself no matter how crazy or long my days may be. Thanks for all the support here! You guys rock!!!
BTW for those who friend me, if you don't get replies to your messages to me it's b/c every time I try to write or send a message my computer goes nuts, I guess it's a mac problem with the site and I need to report it.
Way to go aams!!! We knew you'd get there! See how happy and proud of yourself you are when you get there?! Don't let anything stop you from feeling that, just go, you will always feel better!!
Oh and you all can address me as Ang, all my good friends do.
