I'm 24 years old. In 2007 I had a horse accident and hit a 2X4 and a wooden post with my spine. The pain went away after the initial accident. In 2009 my daughter was born. Three months after her berth I started having back pain. The past two years the pain has gotten worse. In the past 7 months it has become debilitating. I'm am in so much pain all the time. I have had two MRIs the last one showed arthritis and the one two years ago showed some degenerative disk disease. I have had a nerve block followed by the lumbar nerve ablation. This helped for a short time. I just had another nerve block and was supposed to have another ablation. Unfortunately the nerve block did not help at all. I am on hydrocodine everyday and it has not been helping much. I don't know what to do now. I've done PT and I have seen a manipulative dr. Is my last resort surgery? Can anyone help with my pain.

I've had issues similar to yours, culminating in a fusion of the L5/S1 vertebrae in 1999. Doctor after doctor has looked at me, all confident they can help me... at first. But the pain stuck. While 'your mileage may vary,' what has worked for me has been two things:

• Dietary changes: Reducing carbs and 100% eliminating wheat gluten. I also make sure to supplement with fish/krill-oil, DHEA and a good multi. Having my blood checked was very valuable.

• Getting to the gym and working on balanced, whole body strength. I try to make sure my core is strong, and string in all directions. I highly recommend that you seek out a trainer in your club. And, remember, squats are your friend! Pounding away on a treadmill? Not so much!

Again, this is ME, but it works!Happy
