Move more, eat less. But realize that you cannot spot reduce. You will lose weight all over. So you will have to be patient enough to notice your face/neck, or arms/legs, or whatever getting smaller, before you may notice any changes in your stomach/love handles.

Patience.

Hello, Alician - I pretty much agree. There's only one way to lose weight. It's a pretty simple formula calories in < calories out. The tough part is doing it. Keep moving, do it regularly and keep track of what you accomplish. Likewise with the food, keep track, weigh or measure and right it down, even to the single chip and single teaspoon, it all adds up. Use the tools on this site if you aren't already; it's great for showing you how many calories you have consumed as compared to what burned of working out. Do this sensibly at a reasonable rate 1-2 lbs per week and before you know it you will be missing the love handles.

With dedication, perseverance and hard work, all things are possible; but be realistic. A healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. Between now and April is approximately 11 weeks. So that would be somewhere between 11 and 22 pounds. You can anticipate you will lose a fair amount in the first couple of weeks but that will likely taper off to a slower rate. You can also anticipate the dreaded plateau. Keep working, moving, and being mindful of all that you eat. Track it all, I believe that tracking is the magic key to weight loss. Make it a religion and dedicate yourself to it. Losing weight is ridiculously easy to do; the hard part is sticking with it and keeping it off and that is where I have always failed and to the best of my ability, I have vowed to myself to always track everyday. To make smart choices with my daily calorie budget and to toss out my box of excuses why I can't go for a walk, or go to the gym. Good luck! And don't be disappointed if you don't make 40 by May. Celebrate every pound of success and stick with it. Rock On

Newlysan is correct. You cannot spot reduce, you just lose weight. Where the fat comes off first is pretty much genetic, but it will come off.

Move more, eat less. I lost 50 pounds in 6 months.
