My husband and I are finally going on our honeymoon! We got married Sept 2010 and with him in law school, there was no time for a honeymoon. We are leaving the day after he takes the bar exam (march 1st) for mexico. I have put on some weight over the years. I used to weigh 110 and couldn't gain any weight no matter how much I ate. I am not at 144 and have put on a bit of belly fat and gained in some other female areas. I am in horrible shape cardio wise, so it's hard for me to run a lot, and on top of that, I have a bad knee. I've already cut Diet soda out of my diet, and am trying to eat a lot healthier. I have a hard time motivating myself to get up and go to the gym because I'm not really sure where to start. Anyone have any ideas or insight? I'd like to get down to 130.

Losing weight begins in the mind. You obviously are thinking in the right direction. You do not have to be a good runner to loose weight. It all starts with just a step in the right direction. I am not fast but I love the tread climber. Most clubs have a intro to there equipment, don't be afraid to ask. Remember the weight did not pack on over night and it does not disappear over night. The best thing about AF is we are all in this together. Best of luck.Happy

I am in the same boat as you, minus the honey moon. I started on the 1st of Jan, and really had no idea what I was doing. I asked the manager at my gym, and she went through and explained how to use the equipment and what is the safest weight to start out at. And that little bit of info, really helped out a bunch! You are already in the right state of mind with your diet situation, which is the hardest part of it all. You can also learn a lot and set up a meal and exercise plan on this website, which is fabulous! And I agree with FndBod81, you didn't put on the weight over night, so it won't come off over night, don't get discouraged if you don't see results right away. They say it takes anywhere from 2-4 weeks for things to become noticeable. And if you still aren't sure about what to do after you talk to your manager, a personal trainer is always an option. Which they are great to have for motivation. Best of luck to you!Happy

Be sure to focus on your diet. You can workout for hours, but if your diet in not under control, then you will not lose weight. You can't out-train a bad diet. See if your club offers a free orientation to take you through everything. Also be sure to check out some of the workout templates on this site for some ideas. Just go to the workout planner, and on the left hand side, click add workout template and you will see a list to choose from. Good Luck!!Happy Have fun on your Honeymoon!!!
