When I joined Anytime Fitness, my goal was to establish the healthy habit of working out by the time my wife and my baby arrived. Needless to say this did not happen. I had a good stretch of 21 or so days straight of going to the gym. Then hyperemesis happened and 2 late nights in the ER with my wife totally shot my energy and drive to go to the gym. I tried going back every so often but it never took.
Well, 9 months later our baby girl was born. During my two weeks off from work, my diet was not the greatest, it isn't superb now, and I felt very sluggish. It was a time for a change. The Saturday before my first day back at work, I went back to ATF and started working out again. I have been every week day so far and have maintained my weight for the most part. Our ATF is having a “maintain your weight for the holidays” competition. Did you know most people put on 8 pounds during the holidays? That must be where my 5-10 pound increases each year come from. I weighed in on November 5th at 181.4 and at last check I was at 180.6. Hopefully I lose some more weight or at least maintain this weight through the holidays.

I know the feeling. everytime i get a good habit going something knocks me out of the loop. right now I a preping for my next deployment overseas, and my wife is pregnant with our thrid boy, so I have two strong forces working against each other, wife usually wins (don't judge me) re dedicated myself when i began going on here and look forward to posting my progress.
DAN, give it hell. and when all else fails, provectus tenatio (rough translation is press the attack, a favorite quote of a couple of southern military officers, most recently COL John Ripley USMC)
Dan,
You Can Do It. Set up your goals on here and track your diet and exercises daily. You will find that if you have to write down your meals daily, than you are more likely to think twice about putting unhealthy foods in your mouth. I know it can be hard over the holidays but the big thing is going to be what you eat and portion control. Good Luck!!
Thanks for the words of encouragement. Thanksgiving week, my attendance at ATF was not superb but on the two days that I would have gone, I raked leaves and then walked 18 holes of golf. I am down to 178.8 at last check. So while not a dramatic loss of weight, it is a loss. I have noticed that my arms look more toned than they had been and my middle does not look as rotund as well.
Eating is one of my stumbling blocks. My portion control was fairly good over Thanksgiving and is normally pretty good throughout the year. However, I am a junk food addict. I am not so much a fast food fan(I really don't like McDonald's, Burger King, etc. ). Veggies just don't appeal that much to me. There are a few that I enjoy, many of them starches, but there are a few green ones. I know I neeed to eat veggies and I also know that if I force myself to eat veggies that don't appeal to me, it could work against me. Dilemna, dilemna. But your are right Courtney, my deit is important and has an affect on my weight maintenance, loss, or gain. Time to provectus tenatio.

I hate losing my keys! Tuesday and Wednesday were fails because I had lost my keys. Thank goodness my wife found them in a gift bag from one of my students. I need to be more careful. Back to the grindstone. Weight today 180.2.

Down to 177.8 this morning! And I am having a more substancial breakfast after asking "Am I making a mistake here?" on the Q&A Board and getting some great responses. Feeling great but I just wish all these life stressors would disappear.
How is it going this week? Just keep pushing and you will get there
Good luck with your weight loss andkeep it up. Just be careful to avoid overdoing it! Most of your weight loss willcome from a healthy diet.
