i am haveing a bad time tryin to stop drinking sodas. i go for awhile and i stop but then il start back up. sometimes i think it just cuz of stress or it just so easy done seein i always have drink them all the time and so many which i know is not a good thing. i know some ppl say about slowly stoppin them i cant really do that to me i feel i need to stop cold turkey. cause for me i feel if i have one it just breaks the cycle of me stopping and il just start drinkin them again so i cant just have one once in awhile like some ppl do so i need ideals and advice on how to stop cold turkey. thanks
Here's an easy idea: DON'T BUY them at the store! Or at a restaurant! You'll save tons of money this way.
I've talked to some other people who consume a lot of sodas (whether diet or not) and what they have done is to drink the recommended daily amount of WATER first and THEN if you are still thirsty you can allow yourself 1 soda if absolutely wanted. So aim for 8-10 (8-ounce) glasses of water FIRST (the daily minimum recommended amount) and then once you've reached your goal for the day you can reach for a soda if you have to. Keep in mind that if you sweat a lot through exercise that you will need to drink EVEN MORE WATER to replenish the fluids lost through sweat. Give it a try. You will feel so much better with drinking water and your body will thank you!
I used to drink 3 liters of pop a day!!!
I had to stop cold turkey also. I started flavoring my water with lemon, lime, or orange slices so I could get some pleasure from drinking just water. Hope this helps you kick the habit Brittany!!
thanks for the advice u all
it hard to stop when u got ppl that drink them in the house hold too so ya that makes it not able to not have them around but tryin to drink more water and flavor it is a good ideal thanks again
How much soda do you drink in a day? Flavored water might help you out, and so might diet soda if you are drinking full sugar.
I like Jennifers suggestion of only having soda after youve drank plenty of water, thats a good idea.
Try to replace it with green tea. Green tea is healthy for you and it still has a little caffeine but is a lot better for you than soda.
You might want to try buying club soda or sparkling water and put a little juice (cranberry is one of my favorites) or squeeze some fresh lemon or lime into it. It provides a litte bit of the fizz without the sugar or artifical sweetners found in soda.
Diet soda is worst than regular on ph level diet is 1.5 where regular is like 2.8 out of 14, I am glad I don't do any.
Most people are addicted to the carbonation not actually the soda so I would really try sparkling water and add some juice to it then slowly cut back on the amount of juice you are adding until you get used to the flavor.
Keep in mind that 1 cup of 100% grape juice still has 10 tsp of sugar.
Green tea and water are the best substitutes. Try eating a couple slices of fruit with your tea or water, it might help to add the sweetness your craving.
I had an addiction to Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew. I switched to diet powder mixed such as Pink Lemonade. After a short while I am hoping to switch to plain water with lemon. Trust me it is not easy, like any addiction it can take a while to shake it.
One thing I stopped doing right from the start is ordering ANY kind of soda or sweet tea when I eat out. I usually just order water with lemon. It is a healthier choice and saves on average 2 bucks per meal.
Get into the “water bottle” habit. Carry one wherever you go. Pretty soon it will feel strange to not have it with you. Camelback makes some good bottles and Britta has a bottle with a built in filter so you can refill it with plain tap water. (Amazon sells it for about $8). If you have to have flavor, try something called “Mi0” it is a water enhancer. It is sugar and calorie free and comes in several flavors. Target and Meijer both carry it. It tastes pretty good and can help you get your water in everyday.
thanks for everyones advice it alot of help
. as far as tryin to switch to diet i have to agree with larrypnkrtn ive found it worse and honestly if i am gonna drink soda i would just drink regular just seems pointless if u want to get away from it il just not like it and want the regular kind anyways i dont see how people drink diet no offense it kinda nasty. the flavoring the water and switching to other stuff is a good ideal i been tryin to do that. to wolfgirl17 ya i seen that mio thing at walmart i got one there pretty cool havent tryed any other flavors yet but il have to start doin that ive not ever heard of a bottle to be able to have a filter on it to filter it that cool il have to look into that thanks
. thanks for everyones advice anybody else have any keep them comeing take all i can get
If you really want an eye opener check this web-site http://www.mywaterzone.com/silvereagle
this is really good info on water.
Wolfgirl17 has the right idea. I picked out a really cool water bottle (Check these out). When I actually stay in the habit and remember to carry it with me, I don't drink anything but water and occasionally milk or juice.
You can also set aside a buck or two every time you want a soda and skip it. Save up that money for something special (or send it to me
).
Good Luck!
Hello,
I would suggest using Juice as a substitute as it contains the types of sugars your body my be used to at the moment. On top of that you can progress into different things and start to lose the addiction to the sodas.
As everyone put above water is essential, it is life, we are literally water itself and share the same characteristics of water on a physical and metaphysical level.
