I love the treadmill too! And, because it's so cold outside right now, I focus my cardio/running exercises on the treadmill, and about once-a-week, I'll use the elliptical machine. When the weather starts warming up, I'll move to the track behind the police station down the street from my house.
"I love the treadmill." Honestly the first time I've ever heard anyone say that
.
Anyway. It depends on your goals. Keeping your cardio workout strictly on the treadmill won't hurt you if you're just trying to lose weight. You can get some variety by going faster, longer, intervals, incline, varying incline, etc. I recommend that just to keep things varied and interesting. Also, if you do the same exact thing, it becomes easy and you don't progress (feels great when you do something you've never accomplished before).
If you're trying to do running, then I HIGHLY recommend doing tracks. Treadmills offer padding which makes it a very soft run compared to tracks, and when you finally get on a track you'll hurt. Also, the consistent speed of a treadmill alters your form from your "natural" way (or at least for me).
Yeah, sure, why not; as with anything, I think there is some benefit to switching things up to avoid burnout, boredom & overuse, but treadmill work, running/jogging, sprinting etc, are great ways of increasing cardio stamina & muscle endurance.
Here’s the one thing I would add; if you’re training on the treadmill to prep you for running outside or “race season”, there is a vast difference between running outside with nature’s elements versus the consistency of running on a treadmill –it’s just different.
I love treadmill work too!

You can focus your cardio workout on the treadmill. There are a lot of great ways to get your heart rate up using the treadmill. You can increase the incline. You may also want to try doing interval training on the treadmill. Good Luck!!!
Treadmills are great!
But when I can avoid them I usually do. Treadmills are THE BEST at giving you a steady pace, the endless hill, evenly paced intervals, or other workouts designed to increase your VO2max or lactic acid tolerance.
