Losing Weight after a baby-- is it possible?

I had a baby 2 months ago-- and gained more than the ideal weight and now left with 20 lbs. to lose. I've always been active and in shape and never had to lose weight until now. I'm just looking for some insights on how maybe others have achieved this, and pointers that I can use so that I don't feel so discouraged.

Thanks so much!

Yes, it is very possible. I gained 50lbs while pregnant with my oldest son and lost all of the weight within 6 months. My recommendation would be to eat a very clean diet under maintenance and use the diet tracker. You will need to be working out (cardio and weight training) at least 4-5 days per week. I actually started running 5k's a couple of times per week while also hitting the gym. Don't get discouraged and good luck!

If it has only been two months, it will take some time. It takes time for your body to adjust and bring itself back to normal size. It took 9 months to add it on so it is not going to come off right away. The main thing to focus on is your diet. You will want to focus on eating a good clean diet, along with regular levels of cardio and strength training. Congrats on your new baby!!!

Like Courtney said, it will take some time but it is possible! Don't try to overdo it, or have a expectation of it being gone soon. I have 2 kids and believe me, I gained way to much weight with my first pregnancy. I didn't start actively trying to lose weight until late last summer, but I've lost 70 pounds so far! My best piece of advice is to have a fitness partner and take it 1 pound at a time. You can do it!!

you can do it!!! I had a baby a year ago and am actually in better shape now then I was before the baby. You just have to make the most out of your workouts and eat clean- no more excuses to eat bad because you are pregnant- ha ha! You can also do exercises with your baby during the day- squats, sit ups- to spend time with your little one. Enjoy every minute of it- they grow up way too fast:)

Thank you everyone! You all have inspired me and made me feel relieved. I guess I just didn't want to realize that my body wouldn't just go back to the way it was before! In the past week, I've lost 4 lbs. and I know it won't be like that every week, but I see some hope!
