how to lose 130 pounds in a year?

How much weight will be safe to lose in a weeks time? How much will be safe to workout? How many calories to consume? Water? I am 5'6" and 262 lbs. I started working out today at the gym. I can walk 3 miles at 3 mph without being too winded but right now that is challenging enough for me. Any information or suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A safe amount of weight would be 1 to 3 pounds a week. You may lose more weight at first and then start to steady off. Set up your goals on this website, it will tell you what a healthy caloric intake should be based off of your goals and what a healthy burn goal should be. For example, if your burn goal is 400 calories, then a safe workout would be one that involved cardio and strength training to reach that goal. When working out you want to be sure to get your heart rate in your training zone so that way you are getting the most out of your workout. Good Luck!!!

Thanks Courtney for your reply. I did fill my goals in. It actually list my burn goal at around 650 calories a day. My workouts will include cardio and strength. I think though that I will have to up my cardio to meet my burn goal each day. So instead of 30 minutes I just might have to do an hour, which is okay with me. Thanks for all the advice and I can use all the luck I can get. I have my eldest son as my workout partner so I have my accountability partner in house.Wink

Here is the deal: Eat 1600 to 1800 calories daily. Break down the daily calorie allowance into 4 or 5 small meals. Do cardio at least 5 times per week. Lift weights 2 times per week. I promise you that you will lose all the weight that you need. I say get the bulk off now. As you get down in weight concentrate more on definition.

Thanks dogang for your response. I asked this question almost six months ago when I first joined anytime fitness. Now I am down 34 pounds. I do cardio 5-6 times a week. I lift weights 4 times a week. Then once a week I work out with a trainer doing a full body circuit. My biggest thing is getting my calories in check/under control. As of this last week I have been breaking my meals down like you had mentioned. I have noticed a big difference in how full I feel versus being hungry. Slow and steady has been the weight loss, no plateau yet.

I just recently started a program to get ready for my new year's resolution. I found it at . After reading it and watching the video I decided to give it a try. I must say I’m pretty satisfied so far. I’ve lost about 23 pounds so far and losing about 3 pounds a week. It's not easy though and it’s not for people half heartily wanting to lose weight. If you have the willpower to follow through with it and put in the effort, you will Lose Weight. The main thing to remember is to never give up no matter what program you follow to lose weight. Remember, while others sleep, we are running.
