gym pet peeves??
50

At AF the other day and it was fairly busy. A guy is on the bench (and had been for close to 30 minutes). He finishes a set...and pulls out his cell phone! He sat on the bench (the only flat bench at our gym) and continued to talk on it for several minutes! I noticed 4 different people on their cell phones that day in the gym! It is one of my biggest pet peeves! I am sorry...but few of us are THAT important that we can't turn our phones off for an hour and workout!

Any other gym pet peeves?!? :o)

The gym provides an area for you to keep your gymbag, keys, etc.

STOP carting your oversized purse, gym bag, sweat shirt, and who-else-knows-what into exercise classes. When the class is full, we need all of the floor space we can muster, and smacking into your belongings when trying to stretch out on a mat, does not make yoga any more peaceful.

Also, when you bring water into a class - put it somewhere near you. Having you jump over me to cross the room mid class because you are suddenly thirsty is annoying and rude.

There are some really talented/skilled people at the location I use - they are able to use a cell phone craddled between the neck and shoulder AND use the eliptical machine at the same time! Personalized ringtones are annoying to everyone except the phone's owner. If the phone's on vibrate and the user is not interferring with other members by using the gym/epqt as a phone lounge I don't care. The real loser is the caller who is not committing him/herself to the workout.

I will probably get stoned for my list, but might as well share.

1) People who think they own the place. I come in at 0400, there is a hardcore crew there religiously, but when newbies roll in, they want to establish dominance. We never see them again after that.

2) People who wear clothes three sizes too small. Now, while I can appreciate a beautiful women or a handsome man (yes, even a guy can appreciate another guy without being all wierd), wearing clothes that at so small my toddler can fit in them is just, well disgusting.

3) People who interrupt me and break my focus. Should I care to squat 500lbs, please dont come up to me in the middle of my set, focused, breathing, and trying hard not to hurt myself, only to ask, can I use this when your done. Just wait a bit longer, when I am racked, its safe to ask.

4) SMOKERS! If I wanted to taste your habit, I will lick an ashtray.

5) Guys who cant clean up after themselves. Wether its the equipment or the bathroom, clean up after yourself. That means, wiping equipment after use, flush a toilet, picking up the paper towel on the ground, taking your clothes with you (I hate dirty underwear), and most importantly, use soap and deodarant.

No this is not a full list of my gripes, but it hits about 90% of what I wanted to say. Sorry for the misspellings thru this thing, that too is a personal pet peevee, but didnt fit in with the gym category. So laugh folks.. Dont take this too serious.

Well, since today was my first day exercising at Anytime Fitness, I cannot really say much. The few people there actually cleaned up after themselves (aside from one). I do have an old annoyance that went with previous gym experience from almost six years ago. People walking behind you tsking and tapping their watch while you're trying to get your thirty minutes in on the treadmill or whatever it may be. We had sign-up sheets for half hour blocks, so yeah . . . fifteen minutes in does not mean I'm ready to get off just because I have extra weight. My time is just as valuable as anyone else.

Sooo, I don't know if this bothers anyone else. But resetting some of the equipment when finished would be fantastic. Like the leg press, just leaving it at the bottom position and walking away sucks. I know I can just push the lever and push it back to get on, but really? It takes two seconds to hold down that little lever, and push with your legs up to a decent position for others to get on, and set the weights and get to work. For some reason, I don't know if I'm just weak or what but I actually struggle with pushing it up so I can get on, and then lower myself...>.< I dunno, it's just been bugging me the last couple of times I have went. I always return it to the original position ...sorry to rant.

my phone is with me at all times! I have two young kids that I leave at home with their well meaning..but non lactating father. enough said.

I dont really notice much at all really. I go late in the evening so I dont see many people. I guess the only thing that really bugged me once was a pair of young girls giving me the stink eye..though reading this..it was probably the phone resting on the treadmill

I'd have to say cell phones also. It has annoyed me so much in the past that I had to do something different than the workout that I came to do.... Get over yourself already.

People who leave their clothes in the bathroom while they are working out...do they think that is their own personal bathroom and that no one else will need to go in there?
