gym pet peeves??
50

At AF the other day and it was fairly busy. A guy is on the bench (and had been for close to 30 minutes). He finishes a set...and pulls out his cell phone! He sat on the bench (the only flat bench at our gym) and continued to talk on it for several minutes! I noticed 4 different people on their cell phones that day in the gym! It is one of my biggest pet peeves! I am sorry...but few of us are THAT important that we can't turn our phones off for an hour and workout!

Any other gym pet peeves?!? :o)

I can't think of a pet peeve that hasn't already been mentioned, so I thought of something I like! I like it when I'm able to strike up a conversation with someone who I just met and talk about different workouts and exercises. It's nice to learn things. Plus, I just like nice people. I guess I could say my pet peeve is people who just aren't nice.

I know people think that wearing make-up to the gym is stupid but also realize that SOME people come straight from work and do not worry about washing it off.

I try to go in the middle of the night so there are maybe one or two people in the gym. I rather not be surrounded by people while working out.

people who can't keep their language clean. I mean really? We don't need to hear you F bombing every five seconds, its not impressive and it comes across as desperate and trashy. Not sure why they feel the need to chat it up at the gym anyway. Same couple of people, many complaints from community members who have to listen to it.

I couldn’t agree with you more!

There is an old school “gym rat” saying, “if you’re not strong enough to lift the weight, don’t lift the weight”. Yeah, every now & then, we get to a point (or at least we should)where we lift to failure or fatigue & the weights need to be dropped on the floor versus on us, but it needs to be controlled & that’s what spotters/training partners are for.

I have to say that all the things in these posts I have seen and agree that they do bother me as well. I have to admitt though, the biggest pet peeve I have with our gym isn't the gym itself. Right next door there is a SubWay and when they bake their bread or sometimes even their bacon I can smell it!!!! I try to eat light before I go but MAN I LEAVE HUNGRY!!! LOL! Good marketing strategy! This is one reason I only bring enough money to buy a drink or 2 from the vending machine!!!

Okay, this may be a little too vivid - But if you've just blown up the bathroom, why not take a second to clean up after yourself? It's not fair to other members to just leave the bathroom a bio-hazard mess and walk out! There's even a plunger if you need to get things moving! Things got a bit messy? Our gym even has shower cleaner available in each restroom to help keep things clean. Too bad there not something like a "Roomba"-type bathroom cleaner that activates when you leave the bathroom! At the very least, spritz some air freshener!!

For those who use having kids as an excuse for talking while using gym equipment, it's not a good enough excuse. You can step aside and have your conversation privately with your children, you don't need to stay hanging out on the equipment to speak with them.
