It all started when my father got diagnosed with cancer the 2nd time. I didn’t cope well with it. As a result, I became depressed and turned to food. I stopped all physical activity including sports. At this time I was 250lbs, before I knew it, I slowly climbed up to 325lbs with a 42 waist size. For 2 years I stayed at this weight, my lifestyle didn’t change. At this weight it was hard to buy clothes that I liked, it brought my confidence level down and I felt very sluggish. This is when I also started smoking.
September 2009 my Dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. 3rd time fighting cancer. A month later October 28th 2009 he past away.
February 2011 is the time I decided I needed to take a different approach to dealing with depression and stress. There was an Anytime Fitness close to where I lived and decided to join. This was the first time I ever joined a gym. I had the basic knowledge of how to work out by reading online and fitness class in school. The staff at Anytime Fitness became more like family, they helped me out along the way giving me tips and keeping me motivated. After the first 3 months I started seeing results, which is when I knew I could reach my goal. 10 months later, I reached my goal of 185 lbs! My waist size is 30. Dropped 12 pant sizes! I still continue to workout everyday and have set my new goal of being a personal trainer, which I never would have seen myself doing.
Thank you for reading my story.
