Personally, I believe a big part of why obesity is at an all time high is because one’s day-to-day activities and purpose are much different today. Most people have less purpose for the little activities (common tasks) that used to be an essential part of our daily life and yet are neglected today. I think when we engage in the activities of our ancestors, we are fulfilling a little piece of ourselves that needs replenishment. So, how can you get back to your roots? Let’s find out.
We just read a recent article on walking that is really fitting for us on this hike. It talked about how walking someplace where nature is more evident relieves tired brain cells. According to this research, memory and focusing abilities will be improved when you are surrounded by nature. At the gym we substitute music, audiobooks, and television or DVD’s, but it is the sense of openness, the feeling of the sun, the small details of color, texture, and shape that make a walk outside truly invigorating.
