Bi's, tri's, and glutes, oh my! If you're unsure of what these terms mean, you're not alone. It's not uncommon for gym-goers to be confused by certain "gym lingo." If someone asked you right now to do 2 sets of 20 reps of burpees, would you know how?
Luckily, we've created a mini-dictionary for fitness buzzwords like these that'll have you talking the talk the next time you're in the gym.

Many of you may not know this, but before I became a personal trainer, I was a member of an elite unit of crime fighting ninjas turtles. I started out in pizza delivery with Casey J, but one night I accidentally delivered his pizza order, and ended up talking Splinter into taking me under his tail, and teaching me the ninja arts. And now I will share my knowledge with you!

You’ve seen or possibly even experienced one of the following examples of how NOT to use your workout time.
The first mistake is having no idea what you’ll do during your workout. You get on your bike, you put on your running shoes or you go into the gym and realize you don’t know what you’re going to do. The end result is often doing a little of nothing and getting no real benefit.

Hello again everyone. I just reported for spring training, but I enjoyed my last few weeks of the offseason, seeing family, playing golf, and I even made it down to Miami to catch some of the Super Bowl festivities. I spent some time down in Ft. Meyers, FL, before the pitchers and catchers began our workouts on February 22. If you live anywhere near Minnesota, you’ll agree that spending time in Florida this time of year is never a bad thing. I always look forward to the start of spring training, but this year I am a little more excited than usual. We finished our last season so strong, and I think there is a huge sense of optimism amongst both the players and the fans as we begin preparations for this year. Also, we have some new faces that should prove to be integral parts of another successful season, and I am looking forward to getting to know guys like Thome, Hardy, Hudson, and Condrey. It’s a great time to be a part of the Minnesota Twins, and I hope fans are excited about this year, especially because we get to play in the new stadium.

Anytime Fitness Members,
To begin my first blog, I wanted to simply say it is a great pleasure to now be a part of the Anytime Fitness team, and I wanted to thank them for providing me this forum to reach out directly to members. Each month I will be able to give you updates on my training regimen that help me prepare for a long season in professional baseball. I think you will find that the exercises I focus on aren’t all that different from what you yourself may be doing in the gym. Now that we are in the offseason I have to focus even more on getting my workouts in because I don’t have the set schedule each week that I do during the season. Thankfully, I always know the date of the start of spring training and that in itself proves to be a motivating factor to ramp up my training. Besides, if you are anything like me during the holidays you know that you eat so much you feel like you need to start working out immediately to get back to normal.
