Guess what? The August Health to-dos are in! These to-dos full of easy daily changes that will help you gain perspective on long-term goals you have for your health and well-being. Last month, we tasked you with removing the salt shaker from the table, forgiving someone, and spend 10-minutes outdoors daily. Let's see what healthy challenges lie ahead for August...
Get Grillin’
Produce is at its peak season during August, so why not fire up the grill for some delicious flavor? A great place to go for inexpensive produce is your local farmer’s market! That way you can purchase what’s in season and support your local farmers. Check out this AH recipe for Char Grilled Vegetables
Drink More Water
Summer is not over yet! August is one of the hottest months of the year and it is important to stay hydrated. The best way to cure dehydration is by preventing it. It’s easy to figure out how much you need by using this calculation: half your body weight (pounds) x .8 = ounces of fluid needed It’s .8 because we drink 80% of our fluids.
{Example} If you weight 170 pounds, this is what your calculation would look like:
85 * .8 = 68 ounces
Sign up for an Obstacle Race
Are you an endurance junkie who loves a challenge? Try an “obstacle race,” which is not only physically enduring, but mentally challenging as well. Our favorite traveling obstacle race is the Warrior Dash! This is a mud-crawling, fire-leaping, extreme 5k run from hell. Warriors conquer extreme obstacles, push their limits and celebrate with music, beer and Warrior helmets!
What races have you done this year?
