Finals week is right around the corner for University of Minnesota students. It’s time to buckle down and get my study on! This semester, I really lucked out by having my finals spread throughout the week, giving myself just the right amount of time balance my studies between classes.
As I prepare for each final exam, I break my study sessions up into short increments, frequently rotating between subjects. I go over the material multiple times, reintroducing the information to my brain. I find that I am unable to focus on one subject for more than a half and hour and get side tracked easily. This is why the cramming method doesn’t work well for me.
During finals week, I am particular about fueling my body with healthy food to help stay energized and focused during this crucial time. I eat small, frequent snacks to keep my metabolism rolling. Here are some of my favorite healthy snacks to munch on during finals:
Carrots n’ Hummus
- 15 baby carrots
- 2T hummus
Apple and Nut Butter
- 1 medium apple, sliced
- 1T nut butter (almond, peanut, cashew)
Frozen grapes
Yogurt Parfait
- 6 oz. vanilla non-fat yogurt
- 2T granola
Hard Boiled Egg
Berry Berry Smoothie
- 1/4C frozen blueberries
- 1/4C frozen strawberries
- 1/4C non-fat vanilla yogurt
- 1/4C vanilla almond milk
1/4C nuts (pistachios, almonds, or peanuts)
What is your favorite healthy snack?
